My dear friend Pam Thomas, who was a guest writer for my blog back in July of 2008, wrote a fantastic article – What are you tolerating? If you didn’t get a chance to read it, check it out click here.
Recently I was reminded of this article, when I found myself tolerating some items around the house for far too long. It’s amazing to me, how these items can build and build until, as Pam states in her article it “drains us of valuable energy and becomes a distraction”. She wasn’t kidding!

So, have you started your list of goals for 2009 yet? I’ve been working on mine for the past week or so trying to figure out what the heck I need to tackle first. I find it a little more challenging this year than in past years. I’m not quite sure why, it’s not like I’ve accomplished everything I’ve set my sights on.
There’s a lot I would like to achieve this year, possibly write another book or two, take a few classes in something artsy, learn how to knit… okay, maybe not this last one, as I’ve tried and given up more than once. I guess it’s not my “cup of tea”. I do however have the need for creativity in my life.

Boy how times have changed! Last week in my post I made reference to the Christmas classic Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer…and lo and behold doesn’t it come on TV a few nights ago.

Not because I reverted back to my childhood years and watched in wonder at the poor little red nosed fella who no one wanted to play with, but I ended the show with thinking “boy times have changed.”

“Hello, my name is Michelle Jamison and I am a recovering Yes Addict.”
It’s been quite a few years now since I first recognized I had a problem with the word “Yes”- no matter how hard I tried to stop saying it, the addiction would grab hold of me and not let me go. It was the monkey on my back that I simply could not shake.

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, then you’ve probably figured out that I don’t take myself too seriously all the time. Humour plays a pretty big role in my life and I am instinctively drawn to those people who share the same outlook.
I think life’s way too short to be “stuck up”, “too stiff” or so hung up on being professional all the time that you lose sight of what it’s like to have fun every now and then.

I’m back from my week in Montreal where I attended the ICF conference. I have to say, I pulled off the Outdoor look pretty good and I managed to step outside of my reclusiveness and enjoyed myself immensely.
It was a fantastic conference where I had the opportunity to meet up with people who I haven’t seen in years, have a face to face catch up and remember what it’s like to work in a non-virtual environment. I realized very soon into the conference that I actually missed this face to face contact with my colleagues and friends. Mind you, I sure don’t miss the early morning, wardrobe decisions, make up applications and fighting with those darn panty hose (which by the way I managed to put on without putting my nail through…a pretty big accomplishment on my end). Yet, it was great to shake hands, give hugs and have conversations without a phone stuck to my ear. I miss the interaction that only an in-person event can provide.
