It seems my last post regarding next steps really resonated with quite a few of you. Thanks so much for the comments and the emails, but rest assured I’m not going anywhere right now.
The post was merely a reflection on the impact a simple question had on me. How a simple question can get the wheels turning in your mind and this is exactly what had happened with me.
Yes, most definitely, at some point my VA career may end, and I will walk a different path. But this is what life is all about, it’s about finding those passions and pursuing them, and this is where I am right now. Just to reiterate, I have no plans to end my VA career at this moment in time.
For me it’s about discovering those new passions, setting new goals and really getting clear on how I want to live the next 10-15 years. It’s a shift in life that I think we all hit at one time or another and by the sounds of it; quite a few of us are hitting it now.
The “what is next for you” question had a huge impact on me and how I view the future. Although it really set the ball in motion for me in terms of questioning my professional future, there are other things at play here.
For those of you, who know me extremely well know that my Grandmother is not well, in fact she has very little time left with us. Over the past two years I have seen her bright light get dimmer and dimmer, and I’ve been witness to her “larger than life” spirit, slowly disappear in front of my eyes. Being a witness to this as you can imagine does something to your heart and deep within your soul.
You begin looking at the time you have spent on this earth and you start asking yourself if it is all you ever wanted it to be. I can honestly say I have lived my life extremely well and wouldn’t change a thing. But I also want to ensure I stay on this path, and not waste one single moment, and not have one single regret.
Having said that, there is a quote that I came across very recently (it’s amazing when the universe speaks to you), and I’d like you to think about it as you begin to get clear on your next steps.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

Michelle, that is one of my all-time favourite quotes and I have it hanging in my office. It’s a constant reminder for me that I should always be striving to not only make a difference, but also to nudge me to keep on top of my goals. Those include goals outside of my business too – like remembering to step away regularly if only for a walk with Rob and our puppy Coco to spend some quality time together. ( I have a real hard time with that one – putting the business away).
I’ve been reflecting on my future, both professionally and personally, alot lately too and would be up for a “where are we going now” support group too!

Also one of my favourite quotes along with this one and those who know me will know this suits my personality LOL
“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming – What a ride!”
