When was the last time you let your inner child come out and play?  When was the last time you did something so fun and silly that you felt like you were 10 again?   Probably not for a while right?  I hear ya, it’s been a while for me too!

Mother’s Day just past and it still sometimes hits me like a brick that I am now the parent.  Where did the time go?  I’m the one who is now suppose to be the responsible one, I am the one who has to ensure there is money in the bank, food on the table, and roof over our head.  When the heck did this happen?

When did I become my mother?  Hey, I’m not complaining, I love being a mother, I love my kids and having the responsibilities that I have.   Yet, there are those moments when I miss the fun and “newness of the world” that you experience as a child.

What’s wrong with being 37 and running through the sprinkler?   With all the responsibilities, the stressors, the “have to dos”, I think it’s time that we all embrace the inner child every now and then.

If you let your inner child out, for a day or even an hour, what would that look like?   If you could take a moment of every month, week, day to enjoy celebrating your inner child, how would you celebrate it?

And….when do you plan on doing it?

Well I don’t seem to have a problem letting my inner child out to play. I have a hard time keeping her in check sometimes! LOL My teenage daughters totally relate to me because I’m such a big kid and usually the first one to run through the sprinkler leaping like the graceful ballerina that I am not. The hula hoop doesn’t work for me anymore, I guess it is important to have space between you and the hoop but I tried! I still have bubble baths because I like bubbles, what’s wrong with that? Not a thing. That’s why I am 48 going on 8 and loving it!

    Hi, Michelle,

I’m in touch with my inner child far too often!! I love to have a good giggle and do it daily. It’s very good for the brain and the soul. Last Friday, friends had a surprise get together for my husband’s birthday. We sat around the camp fire and played guitars and sang all the old songs…for me that so reminds me of being a kid because I started playing guitar at age 13. I also got very silly that night making up my own words to some of the songs…it was a blast!
