How many of you have thought about what you would do if you won the lottery? If all of a sudden you hit a win fall and had millions of dollars at your disposal. Just recently we had a huge lottery, a 45 million dollar lottery. I’m not a lottery player at all, but the thought of 45 million dollars, I’m afraid was too tempting to resist. I bought my $10.00 ticket stuck it on the fridge with a magnet and each time I walked past it…I would ask myself “what would you really do if you won that?”
Hmm…so what would you do?
If you won 45 million dollars, what would that look like for you? A new house, a new car, maybe 3 new cars! Would you share it with your family if so, how much?
It was all pretty easy for me to think of what I would do with it, yes a new house, absolutely I would share with family, I would give some to charity, sure a new car would be nice too! It was all easy until I got to “Yes, but would you continue to work or retire?”
For some people, this could be a pretty easy answer. Some people would be giving their notice the moment those numbers came up for them. In my case I couldn’t come up with the answer. I love what I do, and I’m not sure I’m ready to give that up.
It dawned on me; this was a true test of whether I was doing what I was doing because I wanted to or because I needed to. Big difference in my eyes! Was I merely working as a VA because I had to pay my bills, eat and live or am I working as a VA because I want to, because it was a true passion?
It became very clear to me, that even if I had millions of dollars, I would still be doing what I’m doing right now….running my business and supporting my clients. That was a fantastic moment for me!
Of course I didn’t win the 45 million dollars, not even close to it! I’m still living in the same house, with the same old car and hey that’s more than enough for me. Because I’m doing what I love, so in a way I guess I did win the lottery after all.
So, let’s play the million dollar game….What would you do if you won 45 million dollars? If you took money out of the equation, would you still continue to do what you are doing right now?
If your answer is yes! Congratulations, you hit the jackpot!
