Last week I purchased a new iPod, the iPod Touch and it has to be one of the coolest gadgets around.   I was in the market for a new mp3 player and as I was researching different brands, I immediately fell for Apples iPod Touch.  It was love at first sight!

Not only is it the sharpest looking mp3 player I have ever seen with it’s cool touch screen, but it does so much more than I ever thought an mp3 player could possibly do.  To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure it is an mp3 player. 

It has WiFi capabilities which I absolutely love.  I have the ability to connect to my wireless network, check my email, browse the internet, sync my google calendar (which syncs to my Outlook) and download music directly to my iPod.  Although I am in awe of this feature, my husband pointed out it was just one more gadget keeping me connected 24/7, and I guess he’s right.  The other night I actually found myself checking my email in bed before rolling over and going to sleep…ooops, can’t be doing that anymore!

There are some fantastic applications you can download, some for free and some paid, I recently downloaded a free application that connects to my IM apps like Skype, so now I can chat with friends anywhere there is a wireless connection…all from the palm of my hand.  

There is even a free Facebook application, which allows me to update my facebook status, confirm friend requests, check out what my friends are doing and even chat with them online if they are available -it’s pretty nifty!

And yes, of course, you can also play games, I think I may be addicted…LOL!

The only thing I’m not 100% happy with is the battery life. Based on what I’ve read my battery should be lasting a lot longer then what it is. I followed a few tips for extending my battery such as turning off the WiFi when not using it and adjusting the back lighting, not sure if this actually made a difference to be honest.  I still found that the battery was being sucked empty…it may simply be an isolated issue with mine. 

Know that I’m trying not to come off as a commercial for the iPod Touch here, but seriously I am totally blown away by it.  And as you know, whenever I find something that I’m really excited about, well I just have to share it with all of you. 

So consider this one of those moments!
